Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Plano, TX is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to contribute to trusted, scalable technology products in Commercial & Community Banking.

You will lead design decisions, implement secure mobile solutions, and drive delivery within an agile team. You will work with Swift, Kotlin, and native iOS/Android development, applying AI-assisted coding tools while ensuring security and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering.
  • 5+ years of applied experience in software development.
  • Experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise AI-assisted development tools and evaluating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling.

Responsibilities

  • Decide on product design, application functionality, and technical operations.
  • Advise peers and stakeholders on adopting new technologies.
  • Develop mobile apps for iOS using Swift/SwiftUI and Objective-C.

  • Collaborate with UX designers to prototype and implement new features.
  • Optimize apps for speed, reliability, and scalability; follow Agile practices.
  • Support SRE practices to ensure user experience and performance.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities:
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by others.
  • Make decisions that impact product design, application functionality, and technical operations.
  • Advise peers and project stakeholders on the adoption of new technologies.
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Develop mobile applications for iOS using Swift, SwiftUI, and Objective-C.
  • Develop mobile applications for Android using Java and Kotlin.
  • Work on large-scale mobile apps, implementing complex front-end solutions and automated testing.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to prototype and implement new features for improved user experiences.
  • Optimize mobile applications for speed, reliability, and scalability; follow Agile practices such as Scrum and Continuous Delivery.
  • Support Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to ensure excellent user experience and system performance.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Experience in system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language relevant to mobile development.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile development frameworks, including iOS, Swift, Objective-C, UIKit, Cocoa, SwiftUI
  • Familiarity with iOS design patterns (MVVM, MVC, MVP, VIPER, MVI, etc.).
  • Experience integrating native features such as Camera, Push Notifications, GPS, CoreML, and VisionKit.
  • Understanding of mobile application security, including device registration, biometrics, encryption, and data protection.
  • Experience with API integration and use of development tools like Xcode.
  • Proficiency with Git, source code management, and Agile software development methodologies.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Experience working with copilot or other related tools.
  • Familiarity with build automation tools and frameworks for static and dynamic analysis.
  • Ability to assess technology risks, perform threat modeling, and communicate risk to stakeholders.
  • Experience building relationships with cross-functional teams, including technology, business, audit, and risk partners.
  • Knowledge of OAuth, SSO, and NFC technologies.
  • Experience building and releasing apps to the App Store or enterprise stores using CI/CD pipelines.
