AXS is Seeking a Lead Software Engineer

AXS connects fans with artists and teams, selling millions of tickets to events worldwide. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to build and maintain high‑scale consumer‑facing features on the FanSight platform. The role involves architectural ownership of front‑end design, user experience strategy, and scalable web infrastructure while collaborating with product, design, and backend teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and build new features and enhancements for our global ticketing platforms.
• Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of the FanSight front‑end platform, driving scalable, maintainable, high‑performing user experiences.
• Partner closely with Product and Design teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and responsive customer‑facing applications for millions of users.
• Establish front‑end engineering standards and best practices, including component architecture, performance optimization, accessibility, testing, and maintainability.
• Optimize for user experience and performance while scaling applications to handle massive spikes in traffic.
• Build scalable modules for internal applications and external partners.
• Create services that power core infrastructure, implementing APIs and features for mission‑critical products.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to create innovative solutions that push the boundaries of the business.
• Participate in design and code reviews to ensure best practices and high‑quality code.
• Develop consistent, well‑tested code using modern open‑source languages and frameworks.
• Work with third parties to create a seamless, integrated experience for customers.
• Own systems and products end‑to‑end for the FanSight platform, balancing hands‑on coding with planning and team leadership.
• Define the annual technology roadmap and capacity plan for the project, making key technical decisions.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, code review standards, and engineering best practices across the squad.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, fostering growth across the team.
• Lead sprint pre‑planning and task assignments, conducting feasibility assessments and feedback sessions for new product features.
• Proactively assess and mitigate performance, stability, maintainability, and technical risk issues.
• Partner with security stakeholders on audits and remediation of findings.
• Act as liaison between engineering and stakeholders, including product managers, project managers, architects, and cross‑functional partners.

What to Bring

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including experience as a technical lead.
• Experience leading the architecture and development of large‑scale consumer‑facing web applications, focusing on performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, and modern UI practices.
• BS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Strong full‑stack background with deep expertise in modern front‑end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React) and proficiency in back‑end languages/frameworks (C#/.NET, Node.js, Python, Go).
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating distributed, high‑throughput, low‑latency services and RESTful APIs at scale.
• Experience working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent communication skills, including translating complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Solid technical foundation and understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Proven record of learning new languages, skills, and technologies quickly, often with minimal guidance.
• Ability to take initiative, stay focused, and maintain accountability.
• Thrives in a fast‑paced environment, balancing short‑term goals with longer‑term vision.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence cross‑functional partners.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading architecture and design for consumer‑facing, high‑traffic web or mobile platforms.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD.
• Experience with event‑driven technologies, e.g., Kafka.
• Experience with TDD and/or BDD.
• Experience using NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch or AWS DynamoDB.
• Experience in the ticketing industry, inventory management systems, or e‑commerce.

Pay Scale: $160,000 – $180,000

Bonus: Eligible for bonus under the current plan.
