Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Durham or Burlington, NC team. You will provide hands-on leadership on complex, multi-team initiatives, own end-to-end delivery for high-volume transaction systems, and drive architecture for distributed, event-driven microservices.

This role requires strong Java development, Spring, RESTful services, cloud experience (Azure/AWS), and a track record mentoring engineers within Agile teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years with Java development.
• 3+ years building RESTful services with Spring.
• 3+ years using Maven or Gradle.
• 3+ years with JUnit or Mockito.
• 3+ years of SQL development and database management.
• 3+ years leveraging Azure or AWS for design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership on complex, multi-team initiatives
• Own end-to-end delivery for systems handling high-volume transactions
• Lead architecture and design decisions for distributed systems and event-driven microservices
• Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate new technologies
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence
