Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New Jersey is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join Corporate Technology. You will lead a cross-functional agile team driving secure, scalable software for Client Onboarding and KYC, focusing on high-quality design, integration, and AI-assisted development practices.

Qualifications

  • Formal software engineering training or certification with 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Proficiency in Java development with J2EE server technologies (Web Services, Spring, ORM, XML, EJB, JMS).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and build tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Maven).
  • Understanding of design patterns, UML, and OO concepts.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with source control tools (Bitbucket or equivalent).
  • UI knowledge including HTML5 and JavaScript.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and setting validation standards.
  • Strong grounding in responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate and manage priorities to meet deadlines.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Create innovative technology solutions to support the Client Onboarding and KYC business. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software and new product capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver outcomes aligned to business needs
  • Communicate development progress, risks, and dependencies to the team and key stakeholders
  • Apply Agile practices to support iterative delivery and continuous improvement
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable builds and deployments
  • Use sound object-oriented design and common design patterns to create scalable solutions
  • Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team
  • Contribute to code quality through reviews, testing practices, and defect resolution
  • Work with global technologists to share ideas, improve solutions, and drive innovation
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns
  • Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value realized through automation
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Proficiency in Java development with J2EE server technologies (Web Services, Spring, ORM frameworks, XML, Enterprise Java Beans, JMS)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and build tooling (such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Maven)
  • Working knowledge of design patterns, UML, and object-oriented concepts
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Working knowledge of source control management tools (Bitbucket or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of UI technologies including HTML5 and JavaScript
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) and setting team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and build effective working relationships
  • Ability to organize work, manage priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Working knowledge of Angular or React
  • Working knowledge of AWS or equivalent cloud technologies
