Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within Merkets Technology to advance, build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products securely and at scale. You will contribute technically across multiple domains and collaborate with partner teams to align strategy and execution.

The role emphasizes cloud-native design, Kubernetes-based orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve resilience and automation across the Athena Core Platform.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Working knowledge of load balancing and service orchestration, both on-prem and in public cloud environments.
• Proficient in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Practical Cloud-native and Kubernetes experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.

• Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Partner with a global team of engineers through a transformation of the Athena Core Platform to a resilient and scalable cloud based architecture
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience running Kubernetes (AWS EKS) at large scale for financial organizations where scaling, resiliency, security, monitoring and audit trail etc. will be prioritized
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code products, preferably Terraform
• Experience in one or more public cloud platforms (ideally AWS)
• Experience in DevOps will be considered an advantage
