Job summary

JPMorganChases is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the CDAO AI/ML Data Platform team in Seattle. You will work within an agile team to deliver secure, scalable technology with meaningful business impact, guiding engineering practices and championing responsible AI usage.

You will lead technical direction, develop production-grade code, review peers, and help establish validation standards across the SDLC to improve quality, speed, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Strong hands-on coding and system-design skills for modern enterprise systems.
• Proficiency in one or more of Rust, Java, Go, or C++.
• Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, testing, or troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and direction to the business, technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
• Promote and govern approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish measurable validation standards and encourage reuse of proven patterns and automation across the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Use Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale.
• Guide decisions affecting product design, application functionality, technical operations, and processes.
• Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas.
• Advocate for firmwide Software Development Life Cycle frameworks, tools, and practices within the engineering community.
• Influence peers and project decision-makers to consider leading-edge technologies.
• Help foster a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
• Build and operate 24x7, tier 1 online services

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience
• Strong hands-on coding and system-design skills for modern enterprise systems
• Proficiency in one or more of Rust, Java, Go, or C++
• Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, testing, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant usage and controls
• Proven experience building and operating 24x7, tier 1 online services
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Ability to independently solve design and functionality problems with little to no oversight
• Preferred: Familiarity with open-source OLAP and data-stack projects such as Apache DataFusion, DuckDB, or Apache Arrow Flight SQL
