## Lead Software EngineerApply: Evendale: Full time: Posted Today: R5041740# ******Job Description Summary******# **Job Description****Business Overview**GE Aerospace’s Defense Engines & Services organization is the provider of choice for combat and trainer engines, rotorcraft and turboprop engines, mobility engines (tankers/transport), and marine gas turbines for the U.S. Armed Forces and its allies. Our team is responsible for design, manufacturing, and assembly of the engines on which the military depends, along with a vast array of services and support to approximately 30,000 engines in the field.**Job Description Summary**Have you ever wondered what makes a turbofan engine so cool? Some people think it's the fan, or the high- or low-pressure turbines, or the combustor, or even the augmentor (on military engines). On my team, we think it's the logic and software that stitch all those subsystems together to form a cohesive operating machine - one that can readily respond to pilot inputs while still providing safe and fuel-efficient thrust to complete the mission. This logic also provides diagnostic and prognostic capabilities to better support our customers' fleet needs. In this role we design, develop, validate and certify new engine control strategies to deliver innovative products for exciting Military applications; we also support legacy, fielded product needs -- investigating field events and evaluating potential solutions to provide more robust, reliable engine operation. If you have a passion for delivering integrated hardware and software solutions I'd encourage you to come check out some of the really interesting projects that we are delivering.**Roles and Responsibilities**In this role you can expect to have the following responsibilities depending on the phase(s) of the program(s) that you are supporting:* Execute the design, development, and test of advanced Controls Systems technologies to meet business standards and program / product requirements.* Work closely with supporting and enabling organizations to deliver a seamless, well-integrated solution.* Provide technical leadership on the assigned project.* Document and communicate results of technical data generated.* Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.* Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.* Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.* Manage internal and external suppliers.* Work with teams to address organizational initiatives.* Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.* Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.* Track project progress and report out on resource needs, spend, and progress towards deliverables.* Mentor other engineers in Controls Systems and Transient Design disciplines **Required Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field from an accredited university or college* Minimum of 3 years of experience related to Aircraft Engine Controls Systems and/or Software Engineering* This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.
