Job summary

Deloitte is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, build, and operate AWS cloud and data-engineering solutions that modernize client platforms. You will develop scalable data processing capabilities and integrate data across systems in a client-focused delivery environment.

You will work on cloud migration, data engineering, and legacy modernization, leading Python and PySpark workloads, ETL pipelines with AWS Glue and S3, and infrastructure via CloudFormation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years’ experience developing Python applications and PySpark workloads for distributed data processing.
• 5+ years’ experience designing, building, or maintaining ETL data pipelines using AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and SQL.
• Experience provisioning AWS infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience integrating APIs, relational databases, or NoSQL databases with workflows.
• Experience working in Financial Services/Investment Management.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Join Deloitte as a Lead Software Engineer, where you will design, build, and support Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and data-engineering solutions that help modernize client platforms. You will develop scalable application and data-processing capabilities, integrate data across systems, and contribute to reliable production operations. This role offers the opportunity to work across cloud migration, data engineering, and legacy-modernization initiatives in a client-focused delivery environment.

Work you'll do

As a Lead Software Engineer (Software Engineer III) on the AI & Engineering team, you will be responsible for:

• Design and build Python applications and PySpark workloads that process, transform, and validate data in AWS environments.
• Develop, test, and maintain extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines using AWS Glue and Amazon S3 to support data ingestion, reconciliation, and audit requirements.
• Provision and maintain AWS resources through AWS CloudFormation, including configurations for storage, identity and access management, compute, analytics, messaging, and workflow services.
• Integrate application programming interfaces (APIs), databases, and source systems into application and data-processing workflows.
• Perform code reviews, support deployment and release activities, troubleshoot production issues, and document technical designs and operational procedures.

• Experience working in the Financial Services/Investment Management industry.
• Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred:

• Experience modernizing batch-processing or mainframe workloads to AWS-based applications or data platforms.
• Experience using Amazon Athena, AWS Step Functions, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), or Amazon Aurora.
• Experience using IBM Db2, stored procedures, and SQL to support application or data-processing workflows.
• Experience using Git-based source control and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling.
