Job Summary:

As a Lead Software Engineer in the Experimentation & Experience Controls team, you will lead an engineering squad responsible for delivering multi-region, global distributed systems.

Work on our high-scale in-house A/B testing and Feature Flagging product, capable of serving millions of requests with millisecond response times, enabling experimentation, feature, release management, and real-time user targeting across Disney Entertainment and ESPN.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an agile squad responsible for critical products in multi-region cloud environments, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Promote high-quality delivery through Agile practices, code reviews, and balancing testing and performance priorities.
  • Make technical and architectural decisions, influence the team roadmap, and align with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to an inclusive culture valuing learning, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Mentor engineers to improve their skills and profiles within and outside the organization.
Experience
  • Experience leading significant product or feature delivery within Agile teams.
  • Strong understanding of coding, testing, and development best practices.
  • Experience with JVM languages such as Java, Scala, or Kotlin; familiarity with Scala preferred.
  • Designing, building, and operating distributed systems with failover strategies.
  • Experience with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
Additional Skills (Not mandatory)
  • Building micro/web services (REST, GraphQL).
  • Interest or experience in functional programming with Scala stacks like Cats Effect and ZIO.
  • Monitoring and optimizing JVM applications.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB.
  • Experience with streaming data tools like Kinesis or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership in ambiguous situations.
  • Mentoring and community contributions.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience.

The salary range in NYC is $159,500 - $213,900, with actual offers depending on experience and location. Benefits include bonuses, incentives, medical, and other perks.
