Job summary

Asseta, an AI-native operating system for UHNWIs, family offices, and RIAs, seeks a Lead Engineer to work directly with the CTO to set engineering standards and drive architectural evolution. You will mentor engineers, shape the technical foundation, and spearhead initiatives that reduce architectural complexity while increasing velocity.

You will own the technical direction across systems, improve observability, and ensure scalable, secure platform growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical architecture across complex software platforms.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native systems on AWS.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional Lead Engineer role. You'll partner directly with the CTO to establish engineering standards and coding reviews, evolve our architecture, mentor engineers, and build the technical foundation that will support the company for years to come.

You'll spend less time simply writing code and more time increasing the effectiveness of the entire engineering organization. You'll own technical direction, improve engineering velocity, reduce architectural complexity, and help transform a growing engineering team into a world-class organization.

What You'll Own

Technical Architecture

• Drive architecture across frontend, backend, infrastructure, AI services, and shared platform components.
• Design systems that remain maintainable as our product and engineering team scale.
• Balance pragmatic delivery with long-term technical sustainability.
• Lead technical design reviews and architectural decision making.
• Establish coding standards and engineering best practices.
• Improve consistency across services, APIs, and shared libraries.
• Raise the overall quality of the codebase through thoughtful reviews and mentorship.
• Improve observability, testing, performance, reliability, and developer experience.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor engineers through architecture discussions, design reviews, and pair programming.
• Help engineers grow into stronger software architects.
• Guide implementation without becoming a bottleneck.
• Foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

Platform Development

You'll help shape systems including:

• AI agent infrastructure
• Enterprise accounting platform
• Banking integrations
• Workflow automation
• Shared developer frameworks
• Internal platform tooling

What We're Looking For

Required

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical architecture across complex software platforms.
• Strong backend engineering experience with Python and modern API design.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, databases, asynchronous processing, and system reliability.
• Experience designing maintainable APIs and shared platform services.
• Ability to simplify complex technical problems.
• Excellent communication skills with both engineers and business stakeholders.
• A passion for mentoring other engineers.

Nice to Have

Experience with:

• AI platforms and agent-based systems

Compensation and Benefits
