Job summary

Brooksource seeks a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to guide the delivery platform backend powering post order and delivery experiences, including integrations with partners like DoorDash. You will lead an engineering team, mentor offshore developers, and drive technical decisions while staying hands-on with code.

Qualifications

• Strong Java and Spring Boot development experience.
• Experience as Lead Engineer / Technical Lead / Principal Engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Backend development experience with APIs, integrations and microservices.
• Experience in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Ability to lead technical discussions and coordinate offshore teams.
• Experience with third-party vendors and external integrations.
• DevOps/CI/CD, containerization or cloud operations knowledge is a plus.
• Some frontend exposure acceptable, but role is primarily backend.

Lead Software Engineer - Delivery Platform

About the Role

Our client is looking for a hands‑on Lead Software Engineer to help lead the technology behind post order and delivery experience. This person will serve as the technical lead for a team supporting delivery tracking, order visibility, and integrations with delivery partners such as DoorDash.

We're looking for someone who enjoys both leading engineers and staying hands‑on with development, helping drive technical decisions while partnering with product teams, vendors, and offshore resources.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the design and development of backend applications supporting delivery and order‑tracking systems.
• Serve as the technical lead for an engineering team, including mentoring offshore developers and guiding technical decisions.
• Partner with third‑party delivery providers and vendors, including DoorDash, to build and maintain critical integrations.
• Build and support APIs, microservices, and cloud‑based applications using Java and Spring Boot.

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot development.
• Previous experience as a Lead Engineer, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or Senior Engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong backend development experience, including APIs, integrations, and microservices.
• Experience working in AWS, Azure, GCP, or another cloud environment.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and coordinate work across offshore teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with delivery, logistics, ecommerce, retail, or transportation platforms.
• Experience integrating with providers such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, or similar partners.
• Knowledge of C++ or experience supporting hardware/tracking devices is a strong plus.
• Experience with real‑time tracking, mapping, driver workflows, or location‑based applications.
