Job summary

OneMain Financial seeks a Lead Software Engineer specializing in Apollo GraphQL to drive multi-product development. You will design GraphQL APIs, work with TypeScript across front-end and back-end, and optimize data solutions with Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL on AWS.

You will implement automated tests and integrate them into CI/CD, while providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers. Strong collaboration with product, design, and ops teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years in software development with Apollo GraphQL, TypeScript, and multi-product delivery.
  • Strong Apollo GraphQL design, schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Redis data modeling and data migration.
  • Familiarity with Node.js, React, or similar frameworks; GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer specializing in Apollo GraphQL to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-product development and support, proficiency in TypeScript, expertise with data solutions, particularly Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL and AWS. The development of automated tests and their integration with our continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline is also essential. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects and contribute to the development of cutting-edge software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apollo GraphQL Development: Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs to support various products and services, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Multi-Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and support multiple products, ensuring seamless integration and consistent user experiences.
  • TypeScript Proficiency: Utilize TypeScript to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for front-end and back-end development.
  • Hands on Prisma ORM with PostgreSQL: Design and implement data solutions to ensure data integrity, availability, and performance.
  • Design and Develop Automated Tests: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Typescript to ensure comprehensive test coverage and high software quality.
  • CI/CD Integration: Integrate code and automated tests with the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous testing and early detection of issues. Ensure automated tests are run regularly and provide feedback on the build quality.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and deliver high-quality solutions on time.
  • Problem Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of our software systems.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our software development processes.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS/SCSS.
  • Integrate Angular applications with REST and GraphQL APIs.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with a focus on Apollo GraphQL, TypeScript, and multi-product development.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Apollo GraphQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning. Expertise in TypeScript and its application in both front-end and back-end development. Proficiency with data solutions like Redis, including data modeling, performance optimization, and data migration. Familiarity with other relevant technologies such as Node.js, React, or similar frameworks. Experience with CI/CD tools GitHub and GitHub Actions. Familiarity with version control systems, especially GitHub.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on code quality and maintainability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
