MMD Services Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own the architecture and lead a pod of engineers building AI-enabled applications for thousands of users.

You will stay hands-on while guiding technical direction and mentoring teammates. You will architect and build modern full-stack applications with .NET/C#, React, and Azure, bring AI-powered features into production, and collaborate with product stakeholders to create impactful solutions.

Lead Software Engineer | Build the Next Generation of AI Applications

Chicago | Full-Time | Hybrid — 3 Days Onsite

Own the architecture. Lead the team. Stay hands-on.

We’re partnering with a prestigious global law firm that is making a significant investment in proprietary AI technology, and hiring three Lead Software Engineers to help bring that vision to life.

You’ll join a rapidly growing Data & AI organization that operates like a startup within an established global firm. The team is building custom software that integrates LLMs into applications used by thousands of lawyers and business professionals.

This is an opportunity to influence what gets built, how it’s designed, and how your team delivers it.

Your Impact

You’ll lead a pod of approximately eight engineers, working alongside software engineers, AI engineers, and QA automation engineers. You’ll own technical direction while staying close to the code.

• Architect and build modern full-stack applications using C#/.NET, React, and Azure.
• Help bring AI-powered features and workflows into production.
• Make architectural decisions around scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
• Set engineering standards through hands-on development, thoughtful code reviews, and mentoring.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to solve meaningful problems.
• Collaborate on cloud deployments, containers, and CI/CD.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership.
• Strong hands-on .NET/C# and Azure experience.
• Full-stack development experience with React.
• A track record of owning architecture and delivering applications into production.
• The ability to guide engineers while remaining an active contributor.
• Clear communication and confidence working with technical and business stakeholders.
• A Chicago-area location and availability to work onsite three days per week.

Experience That Will Stand Out

Production AI/LLM integration, Azure OpenAI, Claude, RAG, semantic search, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps, and infrastructure as code.
