Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the design and delivery of enterprise web platforms using Java, Adobe Experience Manager, and AWS. This hands-on leadership role combines coding, architecture, and mentorship to scale customer-facing digital experiences.

Based in Camden, NJ with a hybrid work model (3 days onsite), the role requires 8+ years of Java experience, AEM expertise, and strong collaboration across Marketing, Product, and IT teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Eng, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise applications using Java.
  • 5+ years with Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks.
  • 4+ years of AEM development (AEM On-Prem or AEMaaCS).
  • Experience designing and developing highly available public-facing web applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise-scale digital platforms built on Java, AEM, and AWS.

Lead Software Engineer (Java / Adobe Experience Manager)

Location: Camden, NJ (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite)

Note: The first 60 days are expected to be primarily onsite to support onboarding, team integration, and platform immersion. Flexibility may be available for exceptional candidates.

About The Role

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help drive the evolution of digital platforms and serves as a critical technical leader responsible for designing, building, and scaling enterprise web platforms that support millions of customer interactions.

You will partner closely with Marketing, Product, Enterprise Architecture, IT, and external technology partners to deliver innovative digital experiences across Subaru's global web and e-commerce platforms.

This is a hands‑on leadership position that combines software engineering, architectural decision‑making, technical mentorship, and cross‑functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing production code, influencing technical strategy, and leading large‑scale initiatives from concept through delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the design and development of enterprise‑scale digital platforms built on Java, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and AWS.

  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Architecture, and Engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design sessions.
  • Mentor engineers and help elevate technical capabilities across the team.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize applications through cloud‑native and microservices‑based solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external delivery partners to ensure successful execution and platform stability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise applications using Java.
  • 5+ years of experience developing applications using Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks.
  • 4+ years of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) development experience, including AEM On‑Prem or AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
  • Experience designing and developing highly available public‑facing web applications.
  • Experience building applications using microservices architecture.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS environments.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, object‑oriented programming, and distributed systems.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with third‑party platforms.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex production systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large‑scale global e‑commerce or digital experience platforms.
  • Experience with modern front‑end technologies including React, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, S3, CloudFormation, IAM, SNS, SQS, and Load Balancers.
  • Experience with containerized environments and cloud‑native application development.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build automation tools such as GitHub Actions, Maven, or Gradle.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead, software architect, or lead engineer.
