Job summary

Evrecruit.io is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable microservices within a large distributed platform. You will lead modernization efforts, implement robust API gateway strategies, and drive high-quality software across teams.

You will collaborate with UX, product, and business stakeholders to refine requirements, mentor engineers, and ensure deployments meet performance and reliability standards. Experience with AWS and relational databases is expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and supporting software systems.
• Experience with microservices architecture including designing and maintaining distributed services.
• Experience with orchestration and event-driven patterns.
• Cloud experience (AWS or similar) including cloud-native deployment.
• Experience with legacy system modernization and migration.
• Observability: structured logging, APM, distributed tracing across microservices.
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
• Experience with modern backend frameworks, middleware design, and API gateway patterns.
• Collaboration with frontend engineers using React/Angular.
• Experience with relational database design and optimization.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced technical knowledge to design and develop a variety of software projects
• Write high-quality, performant code that adheres to company guidelines and industry best practices
• Lead modernization of legacy services to current framework versions, maintaining backward compatibility during migration
• Design and enforce microservices patterns across a large distributed platform
• Evaluate and govern third-party vendor integrations for reliability and security
• Own API gateway strategy and inter-service communication patterns (REST, async messaging)
• Apply business and domain knowledge to develop a deeper understanding of the system and contribute to effective solutions
• Lead a team of engineers, coaching them through all aspects of the SDLC
• Develop and maintain extensible applications, APIs, and database models
• Gather and refine project requirements with UX designers, product managers, and business stakeholders
• Design and document detailed architectures for software projects, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business requirements
• Ensure applications meet functional and non-functional requirements by participating in testing and enforcing quality standards
• Oversee deployments and support applications after release
• Recommend new practices, processes, and procedures to improve quality and productivity
• Review and approve changes to application code
• Participate in team processes for planning, tracking work, and continuous improvement
• Oversee project execution, ensuring team members stay on task, communicate blockers, and meet commitments

Minimum Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and supporting software systems
• Microservices architecture: designing, decomposing, and maintaining distributed services
• Message-driven architecture: experience with orchestration and event-driven patterns
• Cloud experience (AWS or similar), including cloud-native deployment
• Experience with legacy system modernization/migration
• Observability: structured logging, APM, distributed tracing across microservices
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills
• Experience with modern backend frameworks, middleware design, and API gateway patterns
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular) sufficient to collaborate effectively with frontend engineers
• Experience with relational database design and optimization
• Bachelor's in Computer Science or similar degree/certification, or equivalent experience
