Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for automated security controls across the Devices & Services portfolio. You will lead, grow, and coach a team of software engineers, and hire well to set a high bar.

You will partner with security engineers and applied scientists to create durable, automated solutions including AI-based approaches, driving outcomes that minimize human error and protect customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for automated security controls across the Devices & Services product portfolio.
• Lead, grow, and coach a team of software engineers; hire well and set a high bar.
• Partner with security engineers and applied scientists to turn hard security problems into durable, automated solutions including agentic AI-based approaches.
• Drive outcomes that make security consistent and accurate by design, removing the human error that lets issues slip through.
• Work backwards from customer and business risk to decide where automation matters most.
• Set technical direction and hold the quality, reliability, and operational bar for the systems your team runs.
