Job summary

Constellation seeks a Lead Software Architect to own end-to-end technical product delivery across automation and full-stack development initiatives. This role guides architecture, directs engineering workstreams, and ensures solutions meet client mission needs and program objectives.

You will translate requirements into scalable designs, oversee React/Spring Boot web apps and Python data/ETL processes, and act as the primary technical authority in client engagements to ensure delivery quality.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in software engineering or solution architecture with React front-end and Java/Spring back-end.
Experience delivering scalable cloud-based solutions (AWS/Azure) and leading web aplikations or automations.
Experience guiding cross-functional teams and mentoring on code reviews and design.
Strong client-facing skills and ability to influence technical decisions.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, React component design, and secure web practices.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience); U.S. citizenship and client clearance preferred.

Job Description

Constellation seeks a Lead Software Architect to provide end-to-end ownership of technical product delivery across automation and full-stack development initiatives. This role is responsible for guiding architecture, directing engineering workstreams, and ensuring solutions align with client mission needs and program objectives. The Lead Software Architect works closely with developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, oversee execution across React/Spring Boot web-based applications and Python data/ETL processes, and drive informed decision-making throughout the delivery lifecycle. This position serves as the primary technical authority in client engagements, providing clear direction, presenting solutions, and ensuring delivery quality, performance, and accountability across teams.

Core Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Provide architectural oversight and technical direction across teams developing full-stack applications (React, Spring Boot) and Python-based automations. Validate engineering approaches, enforce best practices, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
Solution Architecture: Translate complex client requirements into clear, actionable technical designs. Lead solutioning sessions and define system architecture and automated processes in collaboration with engineering teams.
Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical interface with stakeholders. Present solutions, guide decision-making, and manage trade-offs to ensure alignment with mission and program objectives.
Delivery Oversight: Oversee execution across technical workstreams, managing priorities, risks, and escalations. Identify and resolve technical challenges early to maintain delivery timelines and quality.

The ideal candidate must have the following experience, background, and credentials

8+ years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, or solution architecture with proven experience in front-end development using React and backend ecosystems such as Java/Spring or similar enterprise-grade languages.
Proven experience leading system architecture and delivering scalable, cloud-based (AWS/Azure) solutions, as well as leading teams delivering web applications and/or automations.
Experience overseeing cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, data), including providing mentorship and guidance to team members on code reviews and design approach.
Strong client-facing skills, including presenting technical solutions and driving decision-making
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, React component design and common component libraries, and secure web development practices.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
Be a U.S. citizen able to pass a background investigation by the client agency. DHS clearance with CBP/ICE, or DoD Top-Secret preferred.
