Position Overview

The Lead Digital Architect within WWT Digital is a recognized technical authority who governs solution architecture across multiple teams and programs. You bring deep expertise in distributed systems and a demonstrated ability to lead architects and technical leads while setting the architectural standards and patterns that ensure consistency across the practice. This role demands someone who can operate fluidly between hands‑on technical design and high‑level strategic advisory - and who is beginning to shape how the broader architecture practice approaches recurring problem domains.

If you are a technically strong architect who thrives at the crossroads of engineering leadership and creative problem‑solving, and who is energized by shaping transformative digital experiences for clients, we would love to connect. Join WWT Digital and help lead the next wave of digital innovation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Define and govern solution architecture across multi‑team development efforts, ensuring scalability, performance, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to multiple Architects and Technical Leads on WWT Digital‑led engagements.
  • Collaborate with strategists, creatives, and research team members to formulate digital evolution strategies and assess the technical feasibility of transformation roadmap components.
  • Research and drive complex technical solutions spanning multiple technology stacks, from early prototyping through production delivery.
  • Conduct technology reviews, assessments, and dependency mapping exercises to evaluate client environments and define modernization paths.
  • Develop and present prototypes and architectural proposals for client pitches, managing them through to completion with the broader team.
  • Communicate architectural decisions and trade‑offs across a wide range of audiences, from engineering teams to C‑level client stakeholders.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards and patterns across multiple teams to ensure consistency and quality across programs.
  • Identify systemic architectural risks and cross‑program dependencies, and drive resolution in collaboration with delivery leads and practice leadership.
  • Support and guide the development of reusable architectural frameworks, reference architectures, and decision guidelines for use across the practice.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools, providing recommendations on their applicability to current and future client engagements.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Architects and Digital Technologists on the team, actively developing talent within the practice.
  • Lead technical requirements definition for complex programs, establishing requirements analysis practices for use across delivery teams.
Qualifications
  • 18 or more years of software engineering experience, including at least five years architecting systems and at least three years in a technical leadership or consulting role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Highly proficient across multiple technology stacks with a strong grasp of system design trade‑offs including scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Hands‑on experience with emergent AI coding practices using LLM‑based coding tools to accelerate design and delivery workflows.
  • Prior experience in a client‑facing consulting capacity, including presenting complex technical concepts to executive and C‑suite stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in native application architecture and deployment in a major cloud environment — Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Deep understanding of build vs. buy concepts, with the ability to guide clients toward pragmatic technology decisions.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and techniques, along with automated unit and integration testing practices.
