Principal Software Architect

We are currently seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead architecture initiatives across our software development teams, with a primary focus on rebuilding and modernizing internal applications in the pharmaceutical / healthcare domain. This is a high-impact leadership role, guiding both the strategic direction and the technical design of next-generation platforms.

Purpose

The Principal Software Architect serves as the strategic and technical leader of the architecture team, driving the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, clinical operations, compliance, and product stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both business and regulatory needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of complex software systems, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and alignment with business and compliance goals.
• Serve as the Azure Cloud authority, setting best practices for infrastructure, security, cost optimization, and performance.
• Leverage deep expertise in .NET, SQL Server, Power Platform, and Azure DevOps to guide development decisions.
• Architect and oversee the rebuild of existing internal applications, modernizing them for efficiency, usability, and compliance.
• Design and guide implementation of AI-driven features, including predictive analytics, NLP for clinical documentation, and intelligent workflow routing.
• Architect intelligent survey and feedback systems to support clinical assessments, patient engagement, and compliance needs.
• Mentor and manage a small team of architects and senior developers, fostering technical growth and leadership readiness.
• Partner with pharma/clinical operations teams to translate complex requirements into elegant, compliant technical solutions.
• Establish architectural standards, governance, and documentation practices to ensure consistency and long-term maintainability.
• Promote adoption of modern development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
• Ensure system observability and performance monitoring through logging, tracing, and analytics tools.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements to drive innovation and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software or enterprise architecture roles.
• Proven success designing and implementing cloud-native platforms in Azure.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft technologies: .NET, SQL Server, Azure DevOps, REST APIs, Microservices, Event Hubs, Entity Framework, Git, etc.
• Knowledge of survey and Q/A platforms (Qualtrics, Microsoft Forms, or custom-built solutions).
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate team members.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
• Familiarity with AI, NLP, predictive analytics, and model lifecycle management.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Pharma or healthcare systems experience strongly preferred.
• Experience developing solutions for specialty or rare medicine pharmacies is a significant plus.
• Knowledge of compliance standards, data security best practices, and regulated system design.
• Experience integrating or deploying machine learning models into production systems.
