Zap Energy is seeking a Sodium Pump Lead to advance the Zap Modular Reactor program. You will own the design of primary and intermediate sodium pumps, perform calculations and CFD/FEA, and lead test loops and qualification campaigns.

The role requires ASME BPVC knowledge, experience with ANSYS, and strong technical writing for regulatory engagement, with PE license preferred and U.S. work authorization.

Formación

• ABET-accredited mechanical, aerospace, or nuclear engineering degree required.
• 8+ years in turbomachinery and complex systems including nuclear reactors or related fields.
• Expert in pump design per ASME Codes & Standards; familiar with ANSYS.
• BPVC Section III Division 5 experience is a plus.
• Python programming knowledge.
• PE license preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead pump design for primary and intermediate sodium pumps; develop performance envelopes.
• Perform first-principle calculations and CFD/FEA as needed.
• Design, build, and commission liquid metal test loops; run qualification campaigns.
• Collaborate with suppliers on fabrication, inspection, and acceptance testing.
• Produce design documentation, requirements traceability, and V&V evidence for regulatory engagement.
• Develop sodium-handling procedures and support hazard analyses.
• Work within a graded QA program; improve efficiency; familiarity with NQA-1 is a plus.
