Job summary

Vail Resorts in the United States is hiring for winter Ski Patrol roles. Seasonal employment with starting wage $24.00/hr to $30.61/hr, full-time hours during the winter season, and potential housing availability.

You will oversee patrol operations, coordinate safety measures, and support guests daily on the mountain. The position emphasizes safety leadership, team collaboration, and the ability to work outdoors in winter conditions.

Qualifications

  • Five years of patrol experience preferred.
  • Patrol Lead or Specialist at a Vail Resort preferred.
  • Pass resort Ski Patrol ski test; can ski all terrain.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have excellent guest service skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Able to work in inclement mountain weather.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and promote guest safety on varied terrain.
  • Assist injured/ill guests on the mountain.
  • Transport injured guests off the mountain via toboggan or lift ops.

This person will oversee the daily ski patrol functions and help coordinate with PatrolLeadershipto facilitate daily projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise and promote guest safety on varied terrain with varying winter weather conditions
  • Assist injured/ill guests on the mountain
  • Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or supporting air lift operations
  • Maintain trails, including hazard identification and setting up closures, safety materials, and other impacts from the resort environment
  • Have extensive knowledge of ski patrol includingbut not limited to:department compliance requirements,medicalapplications, terrain management,scheduling, weatherobservations, snowmobileoperations, accident investigation, lift evacuation, and slope safety
  • Assist with maintaining an updated patrol SOP documentation, manuals, and training tools
  • Assist patrol leadership in daily operations including but not limited tosafetymeetings,organizing and assigning responsibilities, incident investigationsand hiring activities
  • Facilitate training, mentorship, and support of patrol members
  • Overseeing the day to day operations ofthe ski patrolteam
  • Administrative duties such as goal setting,documentedperformance management, performance appraisals, overseeing and ensuring the quality assurance of trainingandscheduling
  • Will be able tolead effectivelyin the absence of the SkiPatrol Manager
  • Will work closely with otherMountain Operationsdepartments and managers
  • Knowledge ofMountainOperations
  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regards to motivation (morale and positive reinforcement)andperformance management
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • 5 years of previous patrol experience preferred
  • Patrol Lead orSpecialist at a Vail Resort preferred
  • Pass resort Ski Patrol sponsored ski test, capable of skiing all types of terrain under all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English
  • Must be at leastChoose an item.
  • Must have excellent guest service skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a mountain environment

The expected pay range is$24.00/hr - $30.61/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
