Job description

If you are an Engineer with experience in Process Automation and Simulation, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you as a Lead Simulation Engineer. This role can be based in St. Louis, MO, Austin, TX, or Houston, TX. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing world-class simulation solutions for customers across industries globally using Emerson's innovative technologies to accurately model real-time plant behaviors for use in training, testing, and other systems that reduce the cost and improve the safety of customer operations. You will also have the opportunity to lead the technical execution of projects, leading teams of Simulation engineers.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of simulation products and tools to lead design and implementation of large and highly complex projects
  • Continuously improve best practices and techniques to complete assigned projects.
  • Effectively lead and work with a team of process simulation engineers and project managers to solve problems collaboratively and share learnings.
  • Leverage experience with customers' processes and internal execution methodologies to lead key customer-facing activities such as Acceptance Tests.
  • Lead efficient delivery of project work, actively participate in organizational meetings, and direct support of applicable strategic priorities.
  • Mentor other Simulation Engineers through formalized training activities and leading assigned projects.
  • Proactively work with assigned mentors and colleagues to develop skills and knowledge of non-Simulation services, such as AgileOps, advanced control strategies, state-based control solutions, and alarm management.
  • Solve problems with process model tuning and control system integration.
  • Help to develop internal project tools in order to help boost efficiency of simulation projects.
  • Contribute to the financial success of the overall business by leading the technical design and implementation of simulation solutions that meet customer expectations.
  • Improve team capabilities through continuous self-development, growth towards Consultant role, overall product knowledge.
  • Gain recognition within Emerson and with customers as an authority in process simulation product offerings.
  • Support teammates, the organization, and our customers through the embodiment of Emerson core values.
  • Perform as an SME in support of the sales team for customer demos, solution development, and estimate development for simulation proposals.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in process simulation and/or control systems.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Substantial experience with Mimic and/or HYSYS
  • Substantial experience with DeltaV and/or other DCS
  • Knowledge of Oil and Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Life Sciences, Mining and other industry processes
  • Knowledge in SQL, C++, Visual C++, Visual Basic, Database, .NET, etc.
