Job Summary

The Lead Shredder Technician is responsible for overseeing daily shredding operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant destruction of confidential materials. This role includes supervising other shredder technicians, maintaining shredding equipment, monitoring productivity, and enforcing safety protocols. The Lead Technician will serve as the key point of contact for troubleshooting and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day shredding operations to ensure timely and secure processing of materials.
  • Operate industrial shredding machinery and perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise a team of Shredder Technicians, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Monitor and report on production output, downtime, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure all shredding activities are compliant with company policies, confidentiality agreements, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Perform quality control checks to verify proper destruction of materials.
  • Communicate effectively with plant management regarding issues, needs, and process improvements.
  • Document and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply ordering as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in industrial shredding or material destruction operations, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and maintaining machinery.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, FACTA, NAID standards).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime if needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Forklift certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience with scheduling or shift coordination
