Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting is seeking a Shift Supervisor for a large international chemical producer’s Batavia, IL plant. The role oversees a floor of operators on a new 3rd shift in a 24/7 operation, coordinating scheduling, reporting, and coordination from the floor and control room.

You will drive safety, batch schedules, and process deviations, with responsibility to shape how the shift runs and ensure adherence to standards while collaborating with automated controls and on-site leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical field or 5+ years leading hands-on chemical processing.
• Continuous process chemical experience required; polymer, coatings, plastics, and extrusion backgrounds translate well.
• PSM exposure strongly preferred.
• Shift leadership experience in chemical/industrial manufacturing with autonomy to decide on site.
• Background with automated process controls preferred.
• Comfortable splitting time between floor and desk.
• Steady work history showing growth in past roles.

Responsibilities

• Direct a crew of roughly a dozen operators across multiple process areas.
• Anticipate reaction issues and process deviations, and make calls when issues arise.
• Set batch schedules, verify raw material inventory, and coordinate inbound tanker unloads.
• Monitor process systems from the control room and enforce standards on operators.
• Document each shift, including batch traceability records and deviations.
• Plan manual work such as raw material loading, QC sampling, and end-of-run cleanout.
• Own safety, housekeeping, and operating standards for the shift.
