**Churches United for the Homeless Moorhead, MN 56560****Shelter Advocate Lead - All sites Hourly: $22.00****Non-exempt - FT**Churches United for the Homeless (CUFH) provides shelter, support, and case management services for men, women, and families. Embracing “Housing First” principles, we strive to move residents from the shelter to stable housing as quickly as possible. CUFH works to address the root cause of homelessness by increasing incomes and connecting residents to community services with a goal of increasing housing stability and preventing a return to shelter. **Essential Functions**Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Train, models and assist Advocates with programs related to the front desk/Advocate position* Ensures safety of the shelters* Works closely with the Shelter Supervisors and Case Managers* Works with Shelter Supervisors regarding scheduling and maintaining up-to-date trainings* Confers with staff to assist them with analyzing case problems* Assists staff through individual and group meetings to analyze specific programs, understand program development, and increase use of individual skills* Collate HMIS, Apricot, CARES, West Central Continuum of Care, and Office of Economic Opportunity**Responsibilities*** No Supervisory duties* Follow Supervisor plans for employees* Review the first 30 days training of new hire with direct supervisor share strengths and areas for growth* Train and mentor new hires at all shelters* Support On Call staff* Ensuring the safety of the Emergency Shelter and Community Center* Build professional relationships with clients* Model and train De-escalation Skills* Following Case Management plans for clients* Document case notes* Shelter Advocate duties**Successful candidates*** Excellent interpersonal and team skills; outstanding communications skills, written and oral* Proficient in Microsoft Office products* Demonstrated resourcefulness and good judgement* Critical thinking skills* Leads by example* Values diversity of thought, background, and perspective* Sensitivity to individual/family struggles with homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, mental illness, and criminal records* Vigilant attention to details with multi-task ability* Integrity and ethics beyond reproach* Connection to Churches United for the Homeless mission and core values**Physical Demands**Donations of items may require moving of tables and chairs, lifting and putting supplies, etc. away. This requires the ability to lift 20 pounds and bend or stand as necessary. **Position Type/Expected Hours of Work**This is a full-time position.
