DEPARTMENT: Promotion & Design Services Group
SUMMARY

The Lead Senior, Promotion and Events supports the global promotion activity of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, [TFCCS] and of The Christian Science Publishing Society [CSPS].

This position is part of a collaborative promotion service within the Promotion & Design Services Group [P&DSG]. P&DSG is a service-based organization that shapes and guides, from a metaphysical foundation, the promotion and extension of products, services, and events that constitute the “healing and saving” resources of The Mother Church. The Group shapes, supports, and shepherds promotional activities, ensuring an inspired and healing voice and message for each product and need. The promotion service operates as a center of excellence [CoE] to maintain appropriate quality and consistency across the organization. P&DSG collaborates with client departments to develop and implement the overall promotion vision of the publications, products, communications, marketing and promotional materials of TFCCS and CSPS.

Aligned with the mission of P&DSG and under the direction of the Promotion and Events Manager:

The Lead Senior, Promotion & Events is responsible for providing promotional expertise and leadership to help remove barriers to discoverability, access, and engagement. The role will primarily be fulfilled as a Subject Matter Expert [SME] in non-digital promotions and events for the rest of the organization. This role will actively lead, manage, and execute Creative Briefs in collaboration with P&DSG managers, staff, and client departments. While not a CFT member in other areas, this position supports the CSPS / Church Product Owners and Client Department Managers who prioritize the product, editorial, mission activity, and non-digital promotions work for their specific product. The position will define, develop, implement, troubleshoot, manage, and oversee the promotional campaigns of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. This also includes overseeing the organization’s promotional relationships with vendors with a primary focus on streamlining our promotional efforts to serve multiple clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Foundational
  • Develop, lead, and execute mission-aligned non-digital promotional strategies, projects, and campaigns with P&DSG managers, staff, and client departments that support campaign goals and audience groups.
  • Responsibilities may include developing strategy, setting deadlines, building roadmaps, leading meetings, serving as the primary point of contact with the client, supporting teamwork, ensuring timelines are met, maintaining outside vendor relationships, executing deliverables, etc.
  • Partner with Design, UX, and Analytics teams within P&DSG to deliver non-digital promotional campaigns.
  • Apply knowledge of non-digital promotions, copywriting, events, and social media principles and fundamentals.
  • Innovate and bring forward new concepts and collaborate on new approaches with other team members, P&DSG managers, and client managers.
  • Identify and encourage the adoption of best-practices within the team.
  • Closely collaborate with and freely exchange ideas with managers, other Lead Seniors, and staff from each team within P&DSG.
  • Independently support the fulfillment of recurring and one-off non-digital promotion requests, as assigned.
  • Effectively self-evaluate work based on department and/or client guidelines/rubrics.
  • Establish and support a working environment that fosters individual and collective creativity
Client interaction
  • Attend client meetings independently, with Promotion & Events Manager, or to support other team members
  • Work with clients to approve and execute promotional campaigns, keeping clients updated throughout the entire campaign(s)
  • Independently review and evaluate client feedback. Ideate solutions and review within P&DSG before returning to the client.
  • Support Promotion & Events Manager for the hiring, directing, training of new staff
  • Attend and/or support meetings on behalf of Promotion & Events Manager and share key takeaways afterwards
  • Support management tasks, including, but not limited to, project submission forms, Creative Briefs, copyediting, and reviewing work from colleagues
  • Pursue professional development based on guidance/direction from Promotion & Events Manager, and put learning into practice
  • Raise issues and concerns to the Promotion & Events Manager, as appropriate
Promotional Copywriting
  • Write promotional copy for campaigns for advanced products and events, including communication plans, product launches, PR campaigns, paid advertisements, webpages, social media, Plaza signage, posters, flyers, etc.
  • Offer revisions, edits, and mentoring, as appropriate, for work of other team members
Social Media
  • Initiate and develop social media strategies for P&DSG management approval and client review
  • Help to oversee the implementation of social media strategy.
  • Oversee content calendars for social media channels
  • Edit promotional copy for various social media channels written by team members
  • Coordinate efforts with and review contributions from Design, UX, and Analytics teams within P&DSG
  • Support the creation of social media analytics reports
Events
  • Lead strategy, promotions, execution, and/or team efforts in peer-to-peer event planning for products and initiatives, both online and in-person, as directed by Promotion & Events Manager
  • Includes working with A/V, set up crews, outside vendors, and other staff, as needed, with an eye toward positive customer experience and outcomes
Plaza Signage Strategy and Execution
  • Initiate and develop signage strategy and its execution on the Christian Science Plaza, partnering with other Lead Seniors, staff, and REPO, as needed
  • Manage, problem solve, and correct issues that may arise with support of Promotion & Events Manager
Periodical Ad Administration
  • Oversees ad scheduling and production timelines for ads and classified ads placed in the Christian Science periodicals.
  • Works with the Head of Promotion & Events on ad strategy

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and seven years of promotion/events/social media/copywriting experience.

Knowledge/Skills
  • Mastery of the foundational practices and procedures of promotions and events. Ability to instruct colleagues on the same.
  • Effective at building relationships and problem-solving with clients, outside vendors, team, and managers
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and teams, working both independently and collaboratively, and coordinating across cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while achieving deadlines
  • Track record of thinking strategically and executing incrementally
  • Experience planning, managing, and executing successful events, online and in person

Work Environment

This position regularly works in an office environment. This position works in the Boston office with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.

Pay range:

$114,112 - $148,346.80 annually

The pay ranges disclosed in our job postings are the compensation ranges the Church reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for a given position at the time of posting.
