If you are an ENGINEERING professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an opening for you! Based in our SIDNEY, OH location, you will implement fast-paced, time-sensitive scroll compressor development projects for Commercial Air Conditioning products of Copeland HVACR Technologies. This role is for someone with a passion for new product engineering and development, along with teamwork, project management, customer communication, and problem-solving. You will support the evaluation, maturation, and development of scroll compression technologies focused on best-in-world efficiency and optimized for a new generation of environmentally friendly refrigerants.

AS A LEAD/SENIOR LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER - NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, YOU WILL:

  • Lead multiple technical projects and provide thought leadership, critical thinking, inquisitive approach, and a high degree of independent engineering knowledge to global, multi-functional product development teams with a focus on early product development.
  • Independently support internal/external customers and global multi-functional colleagues by presenting technical data and project achievements & updates.
  • Collaborate with sales, application engineering, marketing, and quality teams in product requirements, customer communications, commitments, and issue resolution
  • Develop a mastery in existing calculators and engineering tools, along with the facilitation and creation of new design and analysis tools as needed.
  • Independently conceive and implement development and testing plans with an approach towards risk mitigation, while coordinating with appropriate resources for timely execution.
  • Conceive, mature, qualify and implement new mechanical and/or electromechanical product technologies
  • Drive product decisions with multi-functional product development groups using engineering tools, testing and risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrate strong project management ability in the execution of independently run projects and test campaigns.
  • Develop and incorporate Lean principles and techniques into the New Product Development process.
  • Serve as a technical resource and lead, coach and mentor developing engineers to follow a disciplined, technical problem-solving process and increase their technical understanding of our products.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology plus seven (7) years of relevant industry experience
  • Ability to lead, handle, and prioritize multiple assignments
  • Proven track record in global collaboration and product development
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, including developing program schedules and driving team decisions
  • Advanced understanding thermodynamics and application to HVAC applications
  • Advanced knowledge of advanced analytical techniques and how to deploy them
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for the position.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

  • Twelve (12) years of relevant experience or combined equivalent work/education experience
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated product development experience
  • Prior HVAC/R experience
  • Scroll and Mechanical compressor design/testing knowledge
  • Experience with LEAN methodologies, LEAN product development, and passion for continuous improvement
