Job summary

The King County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Lead Security Screener to supervise security screening staff at multiple King County locations. This civil service promotional role is open only to current KCSO employees who have completed probation as a Security Screener.

The Lead Screener reports to the Sergeant, may perform Screeners duties, and oversees scheduling, training, and performance across the screener team. Competency in leadership, communication, and office software is required.

Qualifications

• Leadership and direction of Screeners
• Excellent oral and written communications
• Ability to work with diverse groups and the public
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to perform basic time keeping in software
• Experience in problem solving and conflict resolution

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct assigned staff; prioritize daily work and resolve issues
• Develop and maintain daily/monthly schedules for the screener group
• Review absences to meet scheduling needs
• Gather and maintain post logs and related data
• Schedule and provide training for new Screeners
• Monitor Screeners to ensure standards
• Perform magnetometer tests
• Cover posts when needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
