Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a part-time Security Officer to supervise and coordinate security activities while performing security duties. The role includes leading Security Officers, distributing tasks, and coordinating with other departments to ensure quality security services.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED, CPR AED, a valid driver’s license, and at least two years of security or law enforcement experience. CPI/PATH/OCAT training is expected within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED is required.
• Must complete the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety supervisor certification within 1 year of employment.
• Two years of Security or Law Enforcement related experience.
• Current CPR AED certification.
• Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Schedule

Part-time, Days /Saturdays and Sundays 7 am - 3pm (16 hrs per week)

Summary

• Provides work direction to others for Security Situations and other activities while personally performing like functions requiring direct application of security skills and knowledge. Performs security related work while evaluating the quality of services being provided. Leads other Security Officers through work distribution, task assignments, and coordination with other departments. Supplies performance discipline input directly to the Manager of Security. Communicates with peers, staff, contractors and all customers on job or project issues and details.
• Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
• Lead Security Officers work in tandem with the Supervisor to manage the distribution of work, tasks and assignments and coordinate with other departments to provide appropriate security services.
• Evaluate the quality of work on the shift to assure that the appropriate service is provided
• In the absence of the Supervisor, Director and Manager, is a liaison with other departments and administration.
• Assure the appropriate response and notification for all Security situations on his her shift.
• Take responsibility to assure that the necessary work is completed in a timely fashion.
• Assist the Supervisor in all training certs.
• The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
• Make recommendations to the Security Supervisor and management for needed equipment and or repairs.
• Supply the Supervisor with details of all security related events requiring follow up action.
• Assist the Supervisor with the completion of the PMP evaluation process by supplying input.
• Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent GED .
• Must complete the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety supervisor certification program within one 1 year of employment.
• Two 2 years of Security or Law Enforcement related experience.
• Current basic CPR AED certification.
• Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Required Certifications

• Crisis Prevention Institution CPI Level 4 - Advanced Physical Skills
• Practical and Tactical Handcuffing PATH
• Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training OCAT
• Personal Protection Control and Defense Self-Defense Training
• Minimum of two 2 years' experience
• Ability to prepare memoranda, reports and essays; using proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of people from many diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Ability to function effectively within a team environment.
• Associate degree in criminal law or related field.
• Armed officer preferred with PA Lethal Weapons Training ACT 235.
