Responsibilities

  • Schedule daily activities of Security Officers and liaise with Supervisors and Officers.
  • Assign post positions, breaks, and equipment; coordinate with Table Games and other departments.
  • Prepare complete, accurate reports on security incidents.
  • Assist in life safety emergencies on property as needed; support On-Scene Leader when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and support security operations across the facility.

Job Description

The Lead Security Officer in this position is responsible for scheduling the daily activities of Security Officers, acting as a liaison between Security Supervisors and Security Officers while maintaining security protection, which includes money transactions, public relations, performing command centre functions, assisting guests and team members as needed.

The Lead Security Officer:

  • Assists Security Supervisor as required and responds to incidents as directed.
  • Assigns daily post positions, breaks, and equipment, ensuring smooth transitions from each shift.
  • Handles pit counts, pit box assignments, pit keys, and other responsibilities concerning the relationship with the Table Games department.
  • Assists supervisor in coordinating actions with outside agencies when needed; aids supervisor in collecting written statements, photographs, reviewing reports, key control, and off property alarm response, when needed.
  • Is knowledgeable of team member’s progress and assist them by counsel, advice and direction. Suggests and recommends solutions to problems which arise during shift.
  • Acts as an officer as needed.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by supervisor or director.
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and detailed reports on security incidents to ensure that Security Management is kept abreast of security related incidents.
  • May serve and assist the On-Scene Leader that reports to the Director of Security for any life safety emergency (such as, fire, flood, bomb threat, evacuation, man-overboard, etc.) on the vessel to ensure safety of casino guests, employees and property.
Qualifications
  • This position spends a majority of on-duty time standing and/or walking in public areas of the property, including but not limited to, the casino, pavilion, restaurants, meeting spaces, rooming areas, parking lots, golf course and grounds.
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently transverse stairs, uneven surfaces, varied flooring surfaces and ground coverings while patrolling, responding to calls for service or emergency situations.
  • Ability to compose, review and comprehend, clear, concise and accurate reports.
  • Must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems, altercations and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs, move money boxes, carts and drop equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to assist sick or injured guests and/or employees.
  • Ability to communicate courteously, effectively, and professionally with guests, outside contacts and all levels of employees.
  • Must be able to use tools and equipment, including but not limited to, keys, handcuffs, flashlights, radios, computers and other tools specific to the position.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Ability to perform duties under varying conditions, including but not limited to, exposure to varying levels of smoke, crowds, noise, and changing weather conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain extremely confidential information.
  • General familiarity with investigation procedures.
  • Must be bondable with no felony convictions.
  • Valid driver's license, preferred.
  • Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
  • C.P.R. and Blood borne Pathogens Certification, preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

This knowledge and these abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, or equivalent, as well as one year experience in security operations. Supervisory experience preferred
