Job summary

The Charles Schwab Corporation in Chicago seeks a Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test to lead automation efforts, drive trading platform quality, and mentor SDETs in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

You will design scalable Automation Frameworks, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and promote shift-left testing with a focus on security and regulatory compliance. This is an on-site role with opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on application development and/or test automation in an Agile environment.
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns and data structures.
• Familiarity with Agile/Lean practices, including TDD, CI and CD.
• 3+ years of experience with order status for trading and understanding complex trade execution flow.
• Experience with SQL Server or MongoDB.
• Experience with QA practices (black box, risk-based, system, regression, exploratory).
• Familiarity with web service virtualization, data virtualization and test data management.
• Passion for automation and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with source control and Agile tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, Bamboo, Git).
• Familiarity with SOAPUI, Postman, Bruno, Fiddler for testing web services.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting production issues via logs (Splunk).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web services and applications.
• Write and run tests for performance, load, and browser compatibility across multiple apps.
• Analyze automation failures and defects, recommending solutions and process improvements.
• Promote shift-left testing and emphasis on code quality, security, and early automation.
• Collaborate with scrum teams to define criteria, clarify requirements, and plan.
• Utilize tools like Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, Bamboo, GitHub, Bruno, Grafana, Splunk for test management.
• Track and report automation metrics and quality to stakeholders.
• Document frameworks, test cases, and best practices for team use.
• Mentor junior SDETs and QA members; drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure testing complies with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
