Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals Eye Institute in Morgantown, WV seeks a Lead Scribe to provide leadership, staff support, and education to ensure accurate documentation of physician dictation and scribe activities. Travel to satellite clinics may be required; full-time dayshift 8a-5p, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities include scheduling, coverage management, training scribes, performing chart reviews, and supporting performance evaluations in collaboration with leadership and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years scribe experience OR 1 year college plus 1 year scribe experience.
• Two years of college coursework in biology, chemistry or physics preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Completes monthly staff schedule.
• Ensures full shift coverage and emergency call-out coverage.
• Accesses Kronos to review scribe timecards.
• Communicates departmental updates to scribe staff.
• Serves as liaison between Business Manager and physicians.
• Ensures policy compliance and performance expectations.
• Coordinates and facilitates scribe training.
• Supervises distribution and status of hospital property.
• Participates in monthly chart reviews and audits.
• Contributes to performance evaluations and improvement opportunities.
• Completes employee warnings when necessary.

Performs as Lead Scribe in Emergency Medicine. Provides leadership, support and education to the staff Scribes to assure quality for documentation of the physician’s or licensed independent practitioner’s dictation and/or activities. Will also perform scribe duties as needed.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS****:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. High School Diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of Scribe experience required; OR One (1) year of college study AND one (1) year of Scribe experience.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS****:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1.
