Job summary

MSD is seeking an Associate Principal Scientist, Engineering in Rahway, NJ to provide technical leadership for late-stage small molecule manufacturing. You will drive process characterization, technology transfer, validation, and regulatory support across global facilities, mentoring juniors and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, compliant, and scalable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant industrial experience.
• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant industrial experience.
• Strong experience in chemical process development and scale-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development, scale-up, and commercialization of small molecule drug substance manufacturing processes.
• Design and execute process characterization studies to define commercial operating ranges.
• Apply QRM, QbD and statistical methods to develop robust control strategies.
• Provide technology transfer leadership to pilot plants and manufacturing sites.
• Support process validation, continued process verification, and regulatory submissions.
