Job summary

First Children Services in Plainfield, NJ is seeking a School Nurse (Certification Track/Certified School Nurse) to provide direct health services, support student wellness, and ensure NJDOE/NJDOH compliance. The role leads during the Nurse Coordinator’s absence, collaborates with the nursing team, and may support other schoolwide nursing programs.

Requires NJ RN license, CPR/AED, and NJ School Nurse Certificate eligibility or possession.

Qualifications

Valid NJ Registered Nurse license.
CPR/AED certification.
Eligibility for or possession of the NJ School Nurse Certificate.
Completion of or enrollment in a program leading to the NJ School Nurse Certificate.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to students across classrooms, therapy spaces, and specialized program areas.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and NJ regulations.
Develop, update, and implement IHPs and EAPs.
Maintain accurate health records and compliance documentation.
Provide medical input during IEP meetings and collaborate on student programming.
Support staff training on health needs, infection control, and emergencies.
Communicate with families regarding student health updates and follow-up needs.
Serve as acting lead nurse during Coordinator absence, ensuring continuity of care.
