Job summary

Rio Rancho Public Schools is seeking a Resource Nurse to join the Student Services team for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 190-day contract with immediate starting date, supporting the District Health Services Program and collaborating with School Nurses and staff to promote student health.

The role requires NM Level II School Nurse licensure, NM RN license or equivalent under the compact rules, and current BLS CPR certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing or related field preferred.
NM Public Education Department License as a Level II School Nurse, or ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.
New Mexico Board of Nursing Registered Nurse License, or equivalent via compact state license per NM Nursing Board rule.
Current AHA BLS CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

Collaborates in the development and implementation of the District Health Services Program.
Participates with District Nurses and school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program based on student needs.
Advises and educates School Nurses, Health Assistants, District Staff, Teachers, students and parents on health matters and provides training activities when necessary.
Identifies District health problems including social, emotional, and economic factors that interfere with learning through screening procedures, assessment and evaluation of district and school health processes.
Trains School Nurses on processes for routine care of ill and injured students.
Coordinators CPR/AED Program for the District; Oversees health management plan development and training.
