Dallas Independent School District is seeking a qualified School Nurse (191 Days) for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves establishing a comprehensive school health program, supervising nurse assistants, delegating nursing tasks, and providing episodic and emergency health care to students and staff.

The nurse will develop care plans and collaborate with parents, staff, and community to promote health education.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing is required.
• License Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
• Certified in American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED.
• Attend scheduled School Clinical Development sessions and complete required coursework.
• Maintain certification as a State Screener in Vision, Hearing, Spinal and Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes in Children.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with a rapidly changing world.
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Responsabilités

• Establish and maintain a comprehensive school health program on a school campus; research, investigate and formulate plans of action.
• Supervise, monitor and evaluate nurse assistants.
• Delegate nursing responsibilities to other unlicensed assistive personnel according to district policy and the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Provide paraprofessional educational activities in nursing tasks, health, and communication skills.
• Provide episodic and emergency health care to ill or injured students or employees.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans with specific nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with school personnel, parents and community to maximize health and social services delivery to students.
• Assess health and developmental status of students and document health information in the health record.
• Provide health counseling and promote health education opportunities to foster a safe and healthy environment.
• Identify and clarify nursing role; ensure quality of care and effective communication.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain regular, punctual attendance at the worksite.
