Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous coaching experience or participation in the sport at high school or college level preferred.
• Valid state teaching license or substitute certification is highly preferred.
• Prior experience in academic competitions (e.g., Quiz Bowl) is strongly desired.
• Broad general knowledge across core scholastic disciplines (history, literature, science, math, fine arts).
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute engaging practice sessions focused on expanding academic knowledge, trivia recall, and buzzer speed.
• Recruit a diverse group of students to build a robust and competitive academic team.
• Coordinate team registration, transportation, and itineraries for local, regional, and state-level tournaments.
• Maintain and inventory team equipment, including buzzer systems and study materials.
• Manage the program’s budget, fundraising efforts, and entry fee disbursements.
• Foster a positive environment centered on sportsmanship, teamwork, and intellectual curiosity.
