Job summary

Royal Productions in Metairie, LA is seeking a Creative Director to lead the scenic and graphics team. You will develop concepts, renderings, and layouts for client events, hotel programs, and company shows, and drive the creative vision across all projects.

The role requires 5+ years in scenic or event design and experience leading a design team; strong skills in SketchUp, Vectorworks, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; and the ability to present designs to clients and manage budgets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in scenic design, event design, themed décor, or a related creative field.
• At least 2 years leading a design team
• Portfolio demonstrating both design work and finished, built projects
• Strong rendering and design skills using SketchUp, Vectorworks, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience supporting a sales team with designs, proposals, and pricing
• Comfort presenting designs directly to clients when needed
• Working understanding of fabrication and materials to design work that can be built
• Strong organization and decisive execution when deadlines compete
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on the event calendar

Responsibilities

• Develop set concepts, designs, and layouts for client events, hotel programs, and company-produced shows
• Create renderings, mockups, and presentations to support selling scenic work
• Refresh recurring and annual event sets so returning clients see updated options each season
• Set the creative standard for all designs and graphics leaving the department
• Photograph and archive finished sets for proposals, marketing, and portfolio use
• Lead, schedule, and develop graphic designers
• Direct production of signage, printed graphics, kiosk artwork, vehicle wraps, and branded collateral
• Manage priorities and deadlines across multiple events running at the same time
• Bring in and manage freelance designers or render artists when project volume increases
• Serve as the go-to scenic resource for sales managers, property directors, and the event sales team
• Translate client briefs into concepts, renderings, and quotes the sales team can present and sell
• Train sales staff on scenic inventory, pricing, and what's possible so they can identify scenic opportunities
• Join client calls and site visits for custom or higher-complexity projects requiring design presence
• Track scenic revenue by property and identify ways to grow it
• Partner with the Scenic Project Manager to convert designs into buildable, on-budget projects
• Review builds in the shop and on site to confirm the finished work matches the design
• Help set scenic pricing and order deadlines with the operations team
• Plan scenic packages for new hotel properties as they come online
• Lead the creative direction of holiday and seasonal décor programs at Royal properties
• Present décor concepts and budgets to hotel ownership and management
• Manage the creative budget and purchasing for your team
• Participate in company leadership and department head meetings
