Job summary

Thorpe Plant Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced scaffold builder in the United States, Utah region. The role involves constructing, installing, and dismantling scaffolding per blueprints, with a focus on safety and efficiency on active job sites.

You will assess sites, plan layouts, and lead junior workers while coordinating with project managers to meet schedules. A strong background in scaffold materials, safety regulations, and welding qualifications is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of a scaffold builder apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of scaffold-building experience with understanding of design, assembly, and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and scaffold plans.
• In-depth knowledge of scaffolding materials, types, and applications.
• Strong understanding of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and best practices for scaffolding.
• Physical ability to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and perform manual labor.
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure safety and compliance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for on-site collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot on-site.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Certification in scaffold safety or related trade preferred.
• Able to qualify and weld SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW on carbon/stainless steel.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install, and dismantle scaffolding per blueprints and safety standards.
• Assess job sites to determine scaffold needs and plan layouts.
• Layout, fit up and install pipe supports and hangers.
• Inspect scaffolding systems before, during, and after installation for safety.
• Follow OSHA and local codes to maintain a safe work environment.
• Set up and operate lifting equipment for moving scaffolding materials.
• Provide guidance to junior scaffolders and apprentices on-site.
• Collaborate with project managers and foremen to meet schedules.
• Maintain and care for scaffolding tools and equipment.
• Perform quality checks and correct defects.
• Adhere to project timelines and schedules.
• Keep work areas clean and dispose of waste properly.
• Attend safety meetings and training to stay current.
