Job summary

Astro Digital seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of satellite buses from proposal to final integration before launch.

The ideal candidate brings deep space systems experience, CAD mastery, and collaboration with structural and thermal teams. Expect to mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews, with a hybrid work model in Littleton, CO.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7–15 years aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or Onshape (>5000 hrs).
• Skilled in part and assembly drawings.
• Familiar with CAD version control / PDM.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of satellite buses (50 kg to 500 kg).
• Create parts, layouts, and drawings with guidance from structural/thermal engineers.
• Collaborate with thermal engineers on coatings and thermal solutions.
• Perform design calculations and basic FEA analyses as needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and support design reviews.
