Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is building the first global cellular broadband network in space, enabling standard mobile devices to connect directly via satellite. We are seeking a Lead Satellite Mechanical Design Engineer to guide the mechanical design of the full satellite system from concept through launch, ensuring performance, mass, volume, power, and reliability in on-orbit environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum 15 years hands-on experience in mechanical design, integration, and testing of satellites.
Experience leading small engineering teams through full design cycles.
Strong experience with CAD/PLM tools and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

Lead a team responsible for the complete satellite mechanical design, including bus structure and payload accommodation.
Design, model, test satellite hardware (structures, electronics, communications) through launch.
Develop and maintain system-level mechanical design documentation and test procedures.
Create and maintain standards for engineering drawings and manufacturability.
