GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Lead Sales Associate helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. The duties include assisting customers, operating a cash register, stocking, cleaning, and performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Lead Sales Associates perform the duties of a Sales Associate and act in a lead capacity in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers.
2. Operate cash register, scan items, total purchases, collect payment, and assist customers with merchandise.
3. Receive, open, unpack, stock, and rotate merchandise; build displays.
4. Clean the store, take out trash, dust, mop floors, clean restrooms, and set up sidewalk displays.
5. Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms.
6. Open and close the store under the direction of the Store Manager.
7. Perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, in their absence.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planograms and presentation guides.
• Mathematical skills including basic calculations and percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and handle cash properly.
• Knowledge of safety control policies and cash handling procedures.
• Ability to drive to the bank for deposits.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of supervisory or related experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Handling of merchandise and equipment.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds regularly, up to 55 pounds occasionally.
• Climbing, outdoor weather exposure, and driving required.
