General Summary
Function as a Cashier and/or Stocker, acting in a lead capacity in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Assist with plan-o-grams and programs, provide excellent customer service, and perform duties that maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, while safeguarding assets and minimizing losses.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes per company process.
• Stock, rotate, face merchandise, and build displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Order zones and drop shipment categories as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Help customers locate merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness including dusting, mopping, restroom, and stockroom cleaning.
• Greet customers and operate the cash register, process transactions, and bag merchandise.
• Assist with store opening and closing under direction of the Area Manager.

In the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager:

• Authorize refunds and overrides; count register; handle bank deposits.
• Maintain cashier accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Monitor cash levels and manage cash drawer pulls.
• Observe security cameras for unusual activities.
• Provide change to cashiers as needed.
• Complete paperwork and documentation timely.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

• Mathematical skills including basic calculations.
• Cash handling and deposit procedures knowledge.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Understanding of safety policies and plan-o-gram adherence.
• Effective communication skills.

Work Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with six months of supervisory or related experience.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Handling merchandise and equipment regularly.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds frequently, up to 55 pounds occasionally.
• Occasional climbing and outside weather exposure.
• Fast-paced environment with moderate noise.
• Occasional driving and transportation for store duties.
