GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Lead Sales Associate helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Responsibilities include assisting customers, operating cash registers, stocking merchandise, cleaning, and performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Lead Sales Associates perform the duties of a Sales Associate and act in a lead capacity in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers.
2. Operate cash register and scanner, process payments, bag merchandise, and assist customers as needed.
3. Receive, unpack, stock, and rotate merchandise; build displays.
4. Maintain store cleanliness, including trash removal, dusting, mopping, restroom, and stockroom cleaning, and setting up sidewalk displays.
5. Assist in implementing and maintaining planograms.
6. Open and close the store under the direction of the Store Manager.
7. Perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planogram and presentation guides.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Proficiency with cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies.
• Cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to drive to the bank for deposits.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with six months of supervisory or related experience/training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling for checkout, stocking, and unloading trucks; may require pushing/pulling rolltainers.
• Handling merchandise and equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, dollies, U-boats, and rolltainers.
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Occasional climbing using a step ladder up to six feet.
• Fast-paced environment with moderate noise.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Occasional or regular driving for bank deposits, meetings, and store visits.
