Job summary

COMPANY NAME in Linwood, IA seeks a Safety Manager to lead, develop, and implement comprehensive health and safety programs, ensuring MSHA, OSHA, and state regulations compliance. You will partner with Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, and leadership to create practical, sustainable safety solutions.

You will conduct training, audits, incident investigations, and coordinate emergency response plans while promoting a strong safety culture across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (preferred).
• Progressive safety experience in manufacturing, mining, aggregates, construction materials, logistics, or another heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, DOT and other applicable regulations.
• Ability to obtain or maintain certifications (First Aid, CPR, DOT, OSHA, MSHA Part 48/46, RCRA).

Responsibilities

• Leads development and continuous improvement of site safety and health programs in alignment with policies and MSHA regulations.
• Provides safety leadership, coaching, and mentorship to employees, contractors, and site leadership.
• Conducts safety meetings, audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and corrective actions.
• Partners with site and corporate leadership during audits, inspections, and compliance reviews while maintaining safety records.
• Serves as the primary site resource for injury reporting, investigation, and coordination of medical treatment.
• Manages workers’ compensation claims and safety documentation within the SMS.
• Develops and maintains site-specific emergency plans, SOPs, and safety programs including contractor safety management.
• Leads safety training and education to ensure understanding of expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Analyzes safety performance metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and creates action plans.
• Communicates safety performance and recommendations to site leadership and safety teams.
• Collaborates with Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality to implement practical safety solutions.
• Participates in safety committees and employee engagement initiatives to strengthen safety culture.
