Job summary

Pairwise Plants LLC is seeking a Trait Discovery Research Scientist to lead cross-functional projects in cutting-edge trait biology and gene editing. You will guide experimental design, interpretation of results, and collaboration with the technology development team to advance novel crop traits.

The role emphasizes deep molecular genetics expertise, industrial research experience, and the ability to communicate complex data for strategic decisions and potential invention disclosures.

Qualifications

• PhD in plant developmental genetics, molecular genetics, plant molecular biology, plant physiology, molecular plant pathology, or related field.
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
• Deep knowledge of plant development, molecular genetics, plant physiology, and trait biology.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive project leadership in active collaborations and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Identify trait gene targets and design edit-derived alleles.
• Assess feasibility of collaborator nominations and communicate results.
• Drive data governance, reporting, and knowledge transfer across teams.
• Manage projects with Pairwise tools, plans, and budgets.
