iRocket in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Senior/Lead Robotics & Automation Engineer to own the design, integration, and commissioning of next‑generation automated manufacturing systems. You will work hands-on with robotic arms, CNC centers, machine vision, and PLC control to build connected production cells.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in robotics, industrial automation, or mechatronics; 10+ years encouraged.
• Demonstrated experience programming, integrating, and commissioning industrial robots or automated manufacturing equipment.
• Strong programming and troubleshooting skills for robotics and industrial control systems.
• Experience with Python, C++, PLC programming, or similar automation software development.
• Working knowledge of sensors, actuators, motor controls, electrical interfaces, and communications protocols.
• Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components into automated systems.
• Ability to diagnose equipment, controls, software, and integration problems independently.
• Strong engineering judgment and willingness to work directly on hardware on the manufacturing floor.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, program, integrate, and commission industrial robotic systems for automated manufacturing.
• Program and integrate robotic arms (FANUC, UR, or equivalents).
• Develop automated CNC tending, loading/unloading, pick-and-place, material handling, and assembly applications.
• Design workcells with tooling, end effectors, sensors, and control interfaces.
• Optimize robot movements, cycle times, reliability, and utilization.
• Develop and integrate automation software, PLC controls, machine interfaces, and SCADA systems.
• Ensure robust communication between robots, CNCs, sensors, and MES/MRP/ERP systems.
• Lead prototype development, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, propulsion, and quality teams.
