Position Overview

WSP is seeking Lead Roadway and Structural Materials Engineers for our Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles offices. This role involves overseeing technical materials issues, managing quality control programs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards across transportation projects in California.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate with Resident Engineers, contractors, suppliers, and vendors on materials issues.
  2. Lead quality assurance and control for structural components.
  3. Ensure project compliance with client and industry standards, minimizing schedule and cost impacts.
  4. Conduct site visits, fabrication, and manufacturing inspections to uphold quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in transportation or commercial construction or design.
  • Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and travel up to 25% as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Certifications such as OSHA HAZWOPER, MSCE/SE, or PCI Level II.
  • Experience with State DOTs and large construction firms.
Benefits and Compensation

Expected salary ranges from $107,000 to $158,950, with comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid leave benefits.
