Job summary

Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph, MO is seeking a Lead Inpatient Nurse (RN) to supervise and coordinate patient care on the unit. You will lead shift assignments, mentor nursing staff, and ensure cost-effective patient throughput with a focus on safety and evidence-based practice.

The role requires RN licensure, a nursing degree, and BLS/ACLS as applicable. The position is on-site and involves collaboration with care management and physicians to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program required.
• RN licensure in state or compact state with 90-day timeline.
• BSN preferred; inpatient leadership experience a plus.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required or obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift assignments and coordinate with House Supervisor during staffing changes.
• Assign nursing students to caregivers for the upcoming shift.
• Collaborate with care management on throughput and care plans.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers as appropriate.
• Monitor staff, assess patient needs, and document in the medical record.
• Develop and implement plans of care; supervise licensed/unlicensed staff.
• Evaluate patient responses and update plans of care.
• Ensure discharge planning is part of the care plan.
• Engage in patient/family/staff teaching to improve outcomes.
• Follow ANA code and nursing practice standards; administer meds and monitor effects.
• Participate in staff training and quality improvement activities.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team; rounds with physicians; attend team conferences.
