Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a RN leader for the MICU Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent's East in Trussville, AL. This full-time night-shift role (7pm–7am) involves coordinating staffing, leading nursing teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a dynamic step-down setting.

Required qualifications include an Alabama RN license, BLS, and a Diploma in Nursing with at least 1 year of experience. ACLS/PALS may be required within 6 months for certain units. Generous benefits accompany eligibility.

Qualifications

• RN license and BLS certification required or in progress.
• ACLS and PALS may be required within 6 months of hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and current licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership during assigned shift.
• Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develop care assignments.
• Evaluate care effectiveness and address issues affecting outcomes.
• Respond to patient care complaints and escalate as needed.
